"Our partnership isn't only one in the studio, it is primarily one in life. When we first met and went on dates, we quickly discovered a common interest in art and design" reveal Magdalena and Johannes, the duo behind STUDIO VON SCHOENEBECK.

Based in Munich, the couple's work extends beyond collectible design, drawing onmultidisciplinary art and curatorial practices. Coming from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, Magdalena and Johannes have managed to create a beautiful cocktail of theoretical academia and practical design.
The duo's creative journey began with the TETRIS candleholders, their first collaborative project. Born out of a simple need to light up Kocherlball, a traditional Munich celebration, these unique candleholders attracted instant attention, ultimately inspiring the entire TETRIS collection.
The enchanting power of these creations lies in their ability to "alter the perception of time and connection." A room illuminated by a TETRIS candleholder transforms instantly: the atmosphere shifts, faces soften under the flickering light, and the moment becomes more intimate, almost timeless. With wooden geometric forms casting intricate shadows and warm light, these pieces evoke an era before electricity.
STUDIO VON SCHOENEBECK doesn't define itself by being sleek, trendy, or overly polished. Instead, Magdalena and Johannes admire modern design movements like Deconstructivism, weaving these influences with raw emotion and a compelling narrative. The studio's aesthetic revolves around strict structural logic, where form and construction go hand in hand.
As for the creative process, conversations and interactions form its very soul. "It is more like a fluid open-ended conversation that knows no specific place nor time. Those discussions might take place during a lunch break in the park or our weekly grocery shopping," the duo explains.

Looking ahead, Magdalena and Johannes plan to tread on new ground with a series of collectible furniture. The upcoming project, "FIRE, WALK WITH ME", is sparked by the intense experience of Magdalena's childhood home burning, combined with Johannes's past experimental project on the constructive forces of fire. It's a gripping testimony of how fire can be used to not only destroy but also to create.
