Description
The “Sweep” floor lamp is a creation born from my imagination, rooted in the desire to reinvent traditional lighting design codes. As in most of my works, my inspiration draws from the Memphis movement — where the omnipresence of tubular forms, which I reinterpret, interacts with bold colors and geometric shapes.
Designed specifically for the “Village Palace” exhibition, organized by Prisca Razafindrakoto, Simon Geringer, and Jean-Baptiste Durand during Paris Design Week 2024, “Sweep” stands as a singular piece.
The main idea behind this object is to challenge conventions in lighting by playing with non-standard proportions and emphasizing, through repetition of form, a simple everyday gesture: turning on the light.
The lamp features a central steel tube coated in a vivid pop yellow paint, evoking both energy and modernity. Its triangular geometric base ensures both visual and physical stability while adding a sculptural dimension to the object.
The top of the lamp is crowned with three luminous glass spheres arranged in a tripod configuration. This setup not only provides optimal light diffusion but also creates a harmonious connection between the central tubular structure and the lighting elements.
The tripod and base are produced using 3D printing with a bio-based filament, compostable under industrial conditions. This choice reflects an eco-responsible approach, blending technological innovation with environmental awareness.
In essence, “Sweep” is an exploration of form and function — a tribute to the aesthetic codes of the past, reimagined to meet contemporary needs.
