Description
Zygi is a 3D-printed wall lamp made from PLA, a bioplastic derived from corn and/or wheat starch, combined with recycled scallop shells.
Its shape is inspired by the wavy iron bars typical of southern France, often seen on windows and balconies. The slightly textured, pointed lampshade evokes the glistening water droplets formed under the scorching sun on a hot summer day.
The corn or wheat starch used to create the PLA filament comes from the upcycling of waste from existing crops for the food industry. The lampshade and wall mount are made from PLA infused with recycled scallop shells, sourced from the restaurant industry’s recycling network in Normandy.
The zig-zag arm is available in several colors:
- Off-white: PLA with scallop shells.
- Green: PLA with beetroot minerals and pigments.
- Terracotta: PLA with crushed recycled bricks.
- Black: PLA with crushed recycled slate.
- Beige: PLA with recycled mussel shells.
- Brown: PLA with recycled coffee grounds.
