Description

The Diplo vase is 3D-printed using PLA, a bioplastic made from corn or wheat starch and organic and mineral residues.

Its shape is inspired by Diploria labyrintiformis, also known as the brain coral. It also references Matisse’s seaweed drawings, a tribute to his love for the French Riviera.

The upper part of the vase is made from PLA incorporating recycled scallop shells sourced from Normandy restaurants. The base is available in several colors:

  • Green: PLA made from beets, pigments, and minerals.
  • Terracotta: PLA made from crushed bricks.
  • Black: PLA made from crushed slate.
  • Beige: PLA made from recycled mussel shells.

The corn or wheat starch used to produce PLA spools is derived from upcycled agricultural waste from the food industry.

The vase is waterproof. It is post-treated with a 40% bio-based resin to ensure its impermeability. This aspect is currently being researched to develop a fully natural solution.
